Cardinals Watt hints retirement after NFL season 2022. From Monday’s game, 33-year-old Watt posted a picture of himself, his wife Kealia, and their infant son, Koa, at State Farm Stadium. Its inscription, in a roundabout way, declared the retirement:

“Koa’s first-ever NFL game. My last ever NFL home game. My heart is filled with nothing but love and gratitude. It’s been an absolute honor and a pleasure.”

The Cardinals still have two games remaining, both of which are on the road: at the 49ers, then at the Falcons. This year, Watt has been an important part of the defense for Arizona. He had had more sacks and quarterback hits than he had since 2018, when he was nominated for NFL Comeback Player of the Year as an All-Pro pass rusher for the Texans. He also beat atrial fibrillation earlier this season, an irregular heartbeat that needed to be shocked back into rhythm.
